Hydro excavation across the Tweed and Northern Rivers
Hydro excavation breaks up ground with pressurised water while a vacuum unit recovers the spoil, allowing an excavation to be taken down beside a live service without mechanical contact. It is the non-destructive digging method most often specified for service exposure, potholing, precision trenching and excavation tight against existing infrastructure.

Working across the state border
Tweed Heads sits on the Queensland and New South Wales boundary, and that is a genuine operational difference rather than a line on a map. Low-lying ground and flood-affected drainage
Much of the Tweed and the Northern Rivers is low-lying floodplain, with a shallow water table and a drainage network that has to move very large volumes when it rains. Saturated ground will not hold an open excavation, which is a further reason vacuum recovery is used instead of a bucket and a stockpile.
After a significant weather event the demand shifts to clearing silt and debris out of stormwater lines, pits and culverts so capacity is restored before the next event, and inspecting lines for damage or displacement. High-pressure jetting with vacuum recovery is the usual approach, since the material has to come out of the system rather than be pushed further along it.
CCTV inspection and drainage maintenance
CCTV inspection puts a camera through a line to record its actual condition and identify blockages, root intrusion, cracking, displaced joints and infiltration. It is used for planned condition assessment and to verify an asset before and after nearby construction.
Cleaning and inspection are usually carried out together, because a line silted up after a wet season cannot be inspected properly until it is clear. Excavators, bobcats, tip trucks and hydro tankers are available with operators where a job needs supporting plant.
