A CCTV pipe inspection drives a camera along a line between access points and records what it finds: silt, roots, cracks, displaced joints, infiltration and sections that have lost grade. On the Sunshine Coast that footage is mostly put to two uses, deciding which parts of an existing network need attention first, and proving that new drainage has been built properly before anyone accepts it.
Inspection is run from Warana alongside the drain cleaning crews, so a line can be jetted clear and inspected on the same visit. The camera then reports on the pipe rather than on whatever has settled in it.
Condition assessment for maintenance priorities
A stormwater network maintained on a fixed cycle tends to get cleaned where it is easy to reach rather than where it is failing. A CCTV drain inspection programme replaces that with evidence: which sections are sound, which are deteriorating and which need work before the next wet season.

Handover inspection on new estates
Estates across the coast and the southern growth areas keep adding stormwater and sewer lines. Inspecting them before an asset owner takes them on picks up construction debris, damaged pipe, poor joints and dips in grade while the civil contractor is still responsible and still on site.
The deliverable matters as much as the camera run. If a council or water authority requires footage and reports in a set format or coded to a particular standard, confirm it at enquiry so the inspection is scoped to satisfy it the first time.
Before and after works beside existing drainage
Road upgrades, trunk infrastructure and infill development in the established coastal suburbs regularly run over or alongside drainage that has been in the ground for years. Recording the line before work starts sets its condition, and a second run afterwards shows whether it changed.
Both runs are digitally recorded, which gives the asset owner and the contractor the same reference point if a question comes up later. It is a short visit compared with a dispute over when a pipe was damaged.
Hinterland access and finding defects

Where the footage locates a defect that has to be repaired from above, hydro excavation can expose the pipe at that point without damaging it or the services around it, keeping both the excavation and the reinstatement small.

Do you inspect new drainage before an estate is handed over?+
