Before and after construction in a dense city

Much of Sydney’s construction happens right beside existing drainage: new buildings over old stormwater, roadworks across sewer lines, services trenched alongside pipes that have been in the ground for generations. Asset owners regularly specify CCTV before and after nearby works so the condition of their asset is established and then verified.

The recorded footage becomes the reference if a question is raised later, which is why the pre-construction run matters as much as the post-construction one.

Handover inspection in western Sydney

New estates and infrastructure across the western corridor keep adding stormwater and sewer lines, and those lines are commonly inspected before an asset owner accepts them. A camera run at that stage picks up debris, damage, poor joints and loss of grade while the contractor is still on site to fix them.

Drain diagnostics

When a line surcharges, smells or keeps blocking, the camera finds the reason: roots through a joint, a collapsed section, a build-up of silt or an obstruction someone introduced. Jetting clears what can be cleared, and the footage shows what needs repair.

Where a repair needs the pipe exposed from above, hydro excavation can open the ground at the exact defect location without damaging the other services sharing the reserve.

Access, night works and reporting

Access points in Sydney streets often sit in trafficked lanes, and on arterial roads an inspection may have to happen at night inside an approved window with traffic control. 4x4 CCTV capability covers assets away from sealed access on the fringe of the basin.
